Just something interesting and effective.EDIT: I understand it's not the optimal choice, everybody, but I'm asking for builds that could work with my theme, not what's the meta right now.
Maybe it never coalesced into something brilliant. It works very well for me in PvE/Dungeons, so take it for what it's worth.EDIT: Also forgot to mention, though it isn't stated, Fury on Meditations trait applies to your allies in a moderate radius, so you will be providing group fury.to be honest, in PvE shield is not a very viable option.
So I'll add that. (The problem is not that the shield bubble is bad, its a great skill, but it roots you and doesn't allow you to keep doing damage unlike SotA and WoR)Also, there's a trait that gives you exact same Shield bubble when rezzing an ally... so go figure why that weapon is rarely used by Guardians in all the game modes. Note: Please note that builds will default to … Heroic Dragonsblood Shield. However I use Sword Focus + Staff/GS, I find that the block is very effective along with the Blind/Regen from the #4.I find that the shield is very situational and not really effective unless you're in WvW and pushing people off cliffs. A Meditation Guardian build utilizing the shield and to provide frequent aegis to teammates and deal high damage to enemies.
Guild Shield. If you're looking to PvP, there are two main builds that are popular, Bunker (less so now) and Meditation DPS builds. In WvW I have had far more gurdian bubble knockbacks on downed opponents than ranger KB.I use my Guard to farm (and usually command) in Cursed Shore. I play both a guardian and a warrior in WvW. Hope you find something to suit youscepter/shield is a good combo for a secondary weapon set. ... Shield of the Dragon's Deep.
I like my shield a lot (it helps that it's Flameseeker Prophecies), so I use it even in WvW (though the knockback is actually kinda nice, there), but in almost all situations having the shield is a pretty clear handicap over the focus.I've used predominantly hammer/staff for most of my guardian playtime until last week when I finally decided to try out sword/focus/greatsword. However, since you asked, the build I run in PvE that proves fairly effective is as follows:Gear is a mix of Knight's and Zerk, I just fiddled with the combos until I got ~2100 power, 50% crit chance, 200% crit damage, and 3k+ armor.Superior Runes of Rage.
Grants AoE Vuln/Blind when using VoJ, but still maintains the AH core build at the cost of low virtue recharge rate, but that doesn't matter if VoJ refreshes whenever something dies. It seems no matter what I do, he is severely under-damaging enemies and goes down faster than a Guardian should. Hardening Persistence — Gain damage reduction for each point of upkeep currently in use. Send a wave toward your foe that immobilizes foes in a line. I've used it for so long that I can't cope without it most of the time. If you want to read more about this, check out EDIT: I forgot to say why shield on Guardian is outclassed in PvE. Create a shielding wave in front of you that damages foes and gives protection and aegis to yourself and up to five allies. Shield #4 is nothing spectacular, but gives AoE protection. Doesn't have to be pure damage or pure tank or anything.
Honestly a toss up between shield vs focus imo.As someone who runs Sw/Sh on guard simply because FSP is such a badass legendary, I feel your pain. I trait for meditation cooldown, fury on meditation, and meditations heal. Melee with primary, then switch to take some pressure off - cast bubble and immediately pop it, snare and smite with scepter, cast protection with shield before you swap back to your primary.I use it all the time on my dps roaming/small group build. I explain:Shield #5 gives me an extra stun for when we need to interrupt Champion Wraith (else it's usually zerg-wipe!) Maybe it never made it off the ground floor.
Shifting Sands Shield. You'll earn the ability to weapon swap at a reasonably low level, so you'll have a second weapon to fall back on for the times Sword/Shield … Shimmering Shield. Shield of the Wing. Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcutsCookies help us deliver our Services. Not really considering the low difficulty level GW2 has, but it helps smoothing some events.I'd say Shield is more team-oriented, while Focus is selfish. Great for cannon fodder, not so for silver/gold/legendary cannon fodder (An phantom cannon fodder that doesn't makes the trait refresh).Armors: Soldiers & Berserkers.
