The Eco is a nice enough pen, but the Mini just works better for me (and it looks nicer too).

Archived. It's still pretty comfortable to write with though.

It's the smallest of the 3 by far. Please correct me if I'm wrong..New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast/r/fountainpens - A community for fountain pen enthusiasts, from the novice to the collector.Press J to jump to the feed.

The ink used in this review is I'm prepared to eat my words on the Vac Mini. I've taken two pictures (below), attempting to demonstrate what people are complaining about:  At least on my pen, I've found that if you start threading the cap with the clip facing "down" (away from the top of the nib), you'll end up posting the pen with the clip facing away from your hand, and shouldn't have an issue with the clip bothering you as you write. Please don’t go there.I do have some concern about the long-term strength of the plastic.

When it's posted, I don't feel it's small.I disagree with ithrow6s regarding posting. Need info on TWSBI Eco vs. 580 vs. Mini.

To ensure the cap posts "correctly", with the clip facing away from your hand, start threading the cap with the clip facing the feed, not the top of the nib.

(The 580 has a bigger nib.) It twists on and off easily and I've never had a problem and I have to post and unpost frequently. On the whole, the reaction to the Vac Mini has been positive. Yours may differ.Between the 580 and the Eco I would choose the Eco because it is simply a better value, and these are really value pens.

This post does contain affiliate links, through which I may be compensated a small amount if you purchase a pen from any of the sites linked to in this article.

But the TWSBI seems to be higher quality and heavier than a standard plastic build. The 580 is the best, if you want to post it it's not very convenient, but it feels more solidly build than the Eco.

The low price attracted me at first, each time.

I think the 580, especially the 580AL, is at a price point where (if price is not a factor) you can jump up a bit and buy one of the affordable Pilots, Sailors, or maybe even Pelikans for not all that much more. However, as the Eco doesn't have interchangeable nibs, you might prefer the versatility that the 580 offers.I only have the Mini and the Eco - I like them both. - posted in TWSBI: With the Vac 700r being released soon I am wondering if I should get that or the Vac Mini.

Here is what I think about them:"I am having trouble finding sufficient information to make my next selection. I want the vac700, but it's unavailable atm, and I'm eager to get all of the ink samples I've picked out. That said, I know everyone around here loves the Eco for its price point, but I really like being able to disassemble everything, like I could on every other TWSBI.

I am not sure if they've fixed it in the newer ones (mine is an early 580), but there were some leakage issues at the section. I prefer my 530 over the 580.

Eco/Eco-T . I think it does feel nicer than the Eco and it looks WAY cooler.I have a 1.1mm stub in my Mini and a medium nib in my Eco.A posted Mini balances no different then an un-posted Vac-700.

After a less-than-stellar experience with the Vac 700, the idea of a miniature version of TWSBI's vacuum filler didn't excite me in the least, and I dropped one in my Amazon shopping cart as an afterthought when I was stocking up on something else. The TWSBI Vac Mini, with a medium nib.

I love everything about it.

Diamond Mini . It has a single piece of plastic for its body and does not have the design defect the 580 has that is the most common cause of cracks and ink leaks. It's the simplest design, happens to be the least expensive, and still uses good nibs (although smaller nibs, not #6).I thought they fixed the 580 with their new update? Their weights are different though. Posting is annoying on the mini though. This gives you a totally full pen that is ready to write.New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast/r/fountainpens - A community for fountain pen enthusiasts, from the novice to the collector.Press J to jump to the feed. I only have a few pens, and just the one demostrator, and I want another one. Brother in law has a ECO, and I'm tempted to get one. It's a handy feature to have on a pen that holds this much ink, and makes this a good option for airplane travel, but you'll need to open the seal before writing to allow the ink to flow freely. TWSBI Eco Vs TWSBI Diamond 580. The cap screws to post. Archived. When you click on links to various merchants on this site and make a purchase, this can result in this site earning a commission. On the Vac Mini (and any vacuum-filling pen, for that matter) you should open the end-cap for longer writing sessions, to allow the ink to flow. TWSBI's medium nibs are what I would call a "true medium"--not too fine, but also not too broad. The TWSBI Go isn’t intended to be a “last-pen-you’ll-ever-need” product.
