The story is simple: the Russian army is battling Germany during WW 2.

In retrospect, I didn't give a crap for the "Russians" or the Nazis, and come on, give me a break, the "found footage" is too old by now. 5 out of 5 found this helpful. As they progress, they encounter evidence that later becomes horrifying fact that the Nazis are trying to advance there cause with some seriously f! Dmitri, a Soviet propagandist wh… Other things that differentiate themselves than the original frankenstein monster are these Zombots are armed with various weapons, thing that made them far, far more dangerous and deadly. The scientists have used the legendary Frankenstein's work to assemble an army of super-soldiers stitched together from the body parts of their fallen comrades -- a desperate Hitler's last ghastly ploy to escape defeat. When they finally destroy it, the troops finally mutiny and abandon Dmitri after throwing him (along with the film equipment) down a chute. I did get nice monsters, but that is all. The caretaker leads them into a zombot trap which led Ivan to die from a punctured head by a "Razorteeth" and the others to escapes. It consistently picks up the pace, almost like one of those old Russian dances that gets faster and faster until it is a full-out sprint...dark atmosphere, inventive effects, realistic (and plentiful) gore makes this a winner for me. Enjoy it for what it is, entertainment, both humorous and dramatic throughout and an overall solid presentation. Was this review helpful? Lets start with the fact that the film itself is billed as a Dutch-American-Czech film, that in itself says strange things and definitely worked to pique my curiosity, as strange is often under rated as far as I'm concerned.

At first I thought is was going to be campy and corny and I was just going to watch a little bit on Netflix. There's gonna to be a whole lotta shaking going on. Was this review helpful? I went to see this movie with minimum expectation: to be entertained by nice monsters, ass- kicking fights and a minimum of story.

The plot is as simple as anything, but what this Czech film lacks in intricacy and subtlety it more than makes up for with its sheer visual inventiveness. Even though it was really bloody, it wasn't one of those movies that tried really hard to make everything bloody at any chance, the gore went well with the story. all in all its not too bad, worth a rental or a buy at less than £10. As they draw closer to the designated coordinates, Dmitri takes an interest in and films several odd occurrences, such as unexplained dead Nazis, a burnt convent full of massacred nuns, and strange machinery.

At one point you get the feeling that your in a First Person Horror video game and it works. Although the others are dubious about the existence of other Soviet forces in the area, their commander Novikov orders them to investigate.
