I attended the premiere last night of Breadcrumb Trail, a riveting documentary that profiles the short-lived but hugely influential band Slint, especially their iconic “post-rock” album Spiderland that was released in 1991 shortly after the band had broken up. A look into the Los Angeles punk rock scene, that was largely ignored by the rock music press of the time. There's no talk about musical context, nothing about all the bands Slint influenced, nothing about 90's indie culture in general, no attempts at analyzing the music.
