This is a great little primer and I was pleased to see that I had bee using many of the ideas in my practice already. It felt like most of the content was common sense rather than based on theories or techniques. It reads like any other self-help book- a genre I avoid because the only thing that benefits from self-help books is authors' bank balances.
I especially like the idea of saying "aha! About halfway through I was starting to find it annoying to read because the writing style was getting really patronising, which was beginning to irritate me a bit.

I’m a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and I recommend this book to colleagues and patients alike. Overall, a decent book for a bit of toilet reading if you forget your phone, but not a book I'd recommend you set time aside specifically for. Harris systematically explores how we get into the 'happiness trap' and then shines a powerful beacon showing us another way forward. i reread this book whenever things get tough again I like some of the metaphors given, the idea of viewing thoughts as a "story" and not "facts". You are then free and then the spoon bends by itself Boy, I think I've never spent £7.14 more wisely.
